Nahuat

Terms

Last updated November 2, 2026

Nahuat.com is free and under construction. It is offered as it is, while it is being built.

What this is

Nahuat.com is a dictionary and learning tool for Nahuat, an indigenous language of El Salvador. It is free and it is not finished.

No warranty

The site may be unavailable, may change without notice, and may break. Do not rely on it as the only record of anything you care about.

Your account

Your account is tied to your email address; look after access to that mailbox, because whoever has it can sign in.

An account used to abuse the service or other people may be deactivated.

The dictionary content

What Nahuat.com makes — its entries, translations, examples and transcriptions, and the recordings this project makes — is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0): you may share and adapt it, with credit, not for money, and under the same license. For any other use of what is ours, write to us: we can give permission.

What comes from others keeps its own license, stated beside it, and nothing in these terms changes or limits that license. The recordings of the elders of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, by Timumachtikan Nawat on Wikimedia Commons, are CC BY-SA 4.0: that license governs them, not the one above, and this project grants no permissions over them. The same holds for the information that accompanies them on Commons: their transcription, who speaks and who recorded.

The site’s source code is separate and carries its own license.

Contributing to Nahuat.com

When you add or change anything on this site — today that means a meaning, a form, an example, a note or a suggestion in the dictionary; later it may be other kinds of content — you agree that:

  1. It is your own work, or you say whose it is. Do not copy text from a book or a site unless you have the right to.
  2. You license it to nahuat.com under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, the license the site publishes under. It stays yours.
  3. nahuat.com may also give permission to use it on other terms, case by case.
  4. These permissions do not expire, and you cannot take them back later. If you stop contributing, what you already added stays in the dictionary.
  5. nahuat.com credits you by name as a contributor, under the name you choose. If you prefer not to be named, you can say so, now or later.

This does not cover recordings of a person’s voice: a recording needs the speaker’s own consent, which is asked for separately.

What we ask of you

Do not try to break the service, do not scrape it heavily enough to degrade it for others, and do not use it to harm anyone.

If this changes

If something material changes, the date above changes. For any question: privacy@nahuat.com.
